Overview and Documents Requirement
Overview
- to perform official duties such as those assuming position at the international organization's office in Thailand or students under the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA)'s scholarship programmes (Category "F")
- to conduct business / to work (Category "B")
- to study, to have a work study or observation tour, to participate in projects or seminars, to attend a conference or training course, to study as a foreign Buddhist monk (Category "ED")
- to work as a film-producer, journalist or reporter (Category "M")
- to perform missionary work or other religious activities with the concurrence of the Thai Ministries or Government Departments concerned (Category "R")
- to conduct scientific research or training or teaching in a research institute (Category "RS")
- to undertake skilled work or to work as an expert or specialist (Category "EX")
- other activities (Category "O") as follows: to stay with the family, to perfrom duties for the state enterprise or social welfare organizations, to stay after retirement for the elderly (long stay), to receive medical treatment longer than 60 days, to be a sport coach as required by the Royal Thai Government, to be a contestant or witness for the judicial process.

REQUIREMENTS
For All Categories:
- Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months with a copy of biodata page
- Visa application form completely filled out
- Two photographs (passport size 3.5x4.5 cm) with a white background taken within the past six months
- One-way or round-trip (if applicable) flight booking confirmation
- Accommodation/Hotel booking confirmation
Additional requiremnts for each category:
Those going to assume position in Thailand (Category "F")
- Letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the applicant’s country, or the agency or organization of the UN, which must clearly specify the name, position and purpose of the trip
Those going to work in Thailand (Category "B")
(Note:Standard Process for foreigners who wish to work in Thailand as shown below)
- Cover letter from the company in Thailand specifying employment detail including position, salary, and employment period
- Copy of Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour (only in case the applicant has previously worked in Thailand) OR Letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour (Form WP.3)
Note: To obtain this letter of approval, the prospective employer in Thailand is required to submit Form WP3 at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour Tel 02-2452745, 02-2453209 or at a Provincial Employment Office in the respective province. - Employment contract indicating rationale for employing the applicant as well as his/her salary, position and qualifications (document must be signed by authorized managing director and affixed the seal of the company)
- Copy of corporate documents; namely (1) list of shareholders (2) business registration and business license (3) company profile (4) details of business operation (5) list of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions (6) map indicating the location of the company (7) balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (Por Ngor Dor 50 and Por Ngor Dor 30) of the latest year (8) Alien income tax return (Por Ngor Dor 91) and (9) Value-added tax registration (Por Ngor Dor 20), etc.
- Original bank statement of the applicant or a print out with official stamp of the bank showing a balance of at least 1,000 USD per person or 2,000 USD per family in equivalent during the past six months
- Copy of educational records of the applicant and letters of recommendation from the prior employers, identifying job description and length of service time (if any)
Those going to work as teacher in Thailand (Category "B")
- Letter confirming the employment from a educational institution in Thailand
- Letter from the Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC) or the hiring government agency
Note: Teachers at the international schools is exempted for the letter from OPEC. - Copy of the educational institution's registration papers
- Employment contract indicating salary, position and qualifications
- Copy of educational records of the applicant
- Police clearance from the applicant's country of origin
- Original bank statement of the applicant or a print out with official stamp of the bank showing a balance of at least 1,000 USD per person or 2,000 USD per family in equivalent during the past six months
Those going to conduct business in Thailand (Category "B")
- Letter from the applicant’s company indicating the applicant’s position, length of employment, salary and purpose of visit(s) to Thailand
- Documents showing correspondence with business partners in Thailand
- Evidence of financial status in the case where the applicant is self-employed
- Letter of invitation from trading or associated partners/companies in Thailand
- Corporate documents of the company in Thailand; such as business registration and business license issued by the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, list of shareholders, company profile, details of business operation, list of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions, map indicating location of the company and balance sheet, statement of income tax and business (Por Ngor For 50 and Por For Ngor 30 of the latest year)
- Original bank statement of the applicant or a print out with official stamp of the bank showing a balance of at least 1,000 USD per person or 2,000 USD per family in equivalent during the past six months
Those going to study in Thailand (Category "ED")
- Letter of acceptance from the concerned school/university or institute in Thailand
- Letter from the OPEC or local educational office where the school is located
Note: Students at the international schools or unversities are exempted from this requirement.
- Copy of the educational institution's registration papers
- Evidence of financial support for the study in Thailand
Those going to accompany family members to Thailand (Category "O")
- Document proving relationship with concerned family member; such as birth certificate or marriage certificate
Note: Documents in foreign languages must be translated into Thai or English and properly notarized by notary organs or the applicant’s diplomatic/consular mission. - Evidence of financial support for the stay in Thailand
Those going to conduct scientific research or training or teaching in a research institute (Category "RS")
- Letter from the National Research Council of Thailand
Photo Specifications
Note: We regret we cannot accept photographs that do not meet these requirements
Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:
- Taken against a white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
- Clear share quality and with the 80% face in focus.
- Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
- Full face, non-smiling [without glasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
- Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.
- Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre.
Processing Time
The normal visa processing period of the Embassy is 4 days, including submission and returning of passports.

Transit Checklist
To travel in transit through Thailand in order to proceed to the country of destination or to re-enter his/her own country (category "TS") Note: Transit less than 12 hours remaining within the restricted area in the airport does not require transit visa. Transit longer than 12 hours shall require transit visa despite the stay within restricted area.
- Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months with a copy of biodata page
- Visa application form completely filled out
- Two photographs (passport size 3.5x4.5 cm) with a white background taken within the past six months
- Evidence of travel from Thailand (confirmed air ticket paid in full)
- Hotel booking if staying for a night (Fully Paid)
- Visa of a third country in a passport or travel document
- Original personal bank statement certified by the Bank for the last Six months showing a balance of at least 1,000USD per person or 2,000USD per family
Transit Sprot Checklist(category “S’’)
To participate in sports activities (sportsmen, sportswomen, etc.) within one month (category "S") Note: Those who are scheduled to stay in the Kingdom longer than one month, please apply for Non-Immigrant Visa category “O”.
- Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months with a copy of biodata page
- Visa application form completely filled out
- Two photographs (passport size 3.5x4.5 cm) with a white background taken within the past six months
- Round-trip flight booking Confirmation (Fully Paid)
- Hotel booking Confirmation (Fully Paid)
- Letter of invitation stating the application's participation in sports activities in the Kingdom
- Original personal bank statement certified by the Bank for the last Six months showing a balance of at least 1,000USD per person or 2,000USD per family
Tourist Checklist
Note: For Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions (category “MICE”) supported by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) only upon instruction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand

- Two photographs (passport size 3.5x4.5 cm) with a white background taken within the past six months

- Hotel booking Confirmation (Fully Paid) or proof of accommodation in Thailand such as invitation letter from family or friend in Thailand
- Evidence of Employement(Submit a dated and signed letter from your current employer containing the following information: - Your personnel data - Profession and position - length of employment, - Salary - Purpose of the visit(s) to thailand - Date and contact details
- If you are self employed please submit proof of Registration and certified by MOFA(Ministry of foreign Affairs)
- Letter of invitation from trading or associated partners/companies in Thailand
- ID copy of the signatory
- Original personal bank statement certified by the Bank for the last Six months showing a balance of at least 1,000USD per person or 2,000USD per family
- A birth certificate (original and a copy /or a notarized copy)
- Legalized written consent from both parents if the minor travels alone, or from the parent that Is not accompanying the child when travelling.
- Copy of both parent’s ID/Passports.
- A letter from School containing the minors name, grade and number of years.
MEDICAL CHECKLIST(MT)
Note : Those who are scheduled to seek medical treatment in Thailand longer than 60 days, please apply for Non-Immigrant Visa category “O” for the stay not exceeding 90 days.

- Two photographs (passport size 3.5x4.5 cm) with a white background taken within the past six months
- Round-trip flight booking Confirmation (Fully Paid)
- Hotel booking Confirmation (Fully Paid) or proof of accommodation in Thailand such as invitation letter from family or friend in Thailand
- Evidence of Employement(Submit a dated and signed letter from your current employer containing the following information: - Your personnel data - Profession and position - Purpose of the visit(s) to thailand - Date and contact details
- If you are self employed please submit proof of Registration and certified by MOFA(Ministry of foreign Affairs)
- Letter from the hospital in Thailand
- Confirmation Letter and Affidavit of Support issued by the hospital in Thailand with official stamp from the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand
- Document proving relationship between the patient and attendants as immediate family (if applicable)
- Original personal bank statement certified by the Bank for the last Six months showing a balance of at least 1,000USD per person or 2,000USD per family
- A birth certificate (original and a copy /or a notarized copy)
- Legalized written consent from both parents if the minor travels alone, or from the parent that is not accompanying the child when travelling.
- Copy of both parent’s ID/Passports.
- A letter from School containing the minors name, grade and number of years.
